Unlucky Hayden
Nicky Hayden gifted Colin Edwards the last step on the podium in Saturday’s motogp race at the Assen race circuit in Holland. Hayden ran out of fuel at the last chicane just before the finishing line allowing Edwards to fly past to take third position. Hayden did manage to finish fourth by getting tucked in and rolling over the finish line, trying to get every bit of petrol out of his Repsol Honda.
Hayden ran out of fuel due to an electronics problem causing the bike to use more fuel than it should. The Repsol Honda electronics should monitor the amount of fuel and make sure it lasts until the end of the race, but the electronics didn’t restrict the fuel as it should have done.
Edwards got his own back, as in 2006 the pair were battling for the win at Assen and as Colin lead into the final chicane he made a mistake and ended up crashing, gifting Hayden the win.
