Ruben Xaus has agreed terms to race the all-new BMW S1000 RR in the world superbike championship in 2009.

Xaus has signed a two-year contract with BMW and said that he wanted to be involved with the project as soon as he laid eyes on the new S1000. The second rider could be announced within the next two months, with speculation that Troy Corser could take the second seat.

Xaus is a very competitive rider and is very fast; this is why BMW have signed him. Xaus added: “although its going to be tough racing a new bike, I believe BMW will give me a good bike and great support and thats all I ask for.”

Peter Mueller said: “We know that the Superbike World Championship is a very hard and competitive series, but we are not entering it just to make up the numbers: we will be taking part because we want to win!”.

BMW have been completing extensive testing with some quality and experienced riders, hopefully giving the BMW a competitive start from the 1st race of the 2009 season.
